Our journey to the Arctic's edge
Join us as we trace our path from the serene landscapes of Ontario all the way to the majestic Arctic Ocean. This page outlines the incredible route we'll be taking, highlighting the must-see stops and the breathtaking stretches of road that make this adventure truly special.

From Ontario's heart to Lake Superior's shore
Our adventure begins in Cannington, Ontario, where we'll set off towards the vast and beautiful Lake Superior Provincial Park. Our first major stops include the picturesque Agawa Bay, known for its stunning shoreline, and the powerful Kekabeka Falls, often called the "Niagara of the North." These early stages of our journey offer a blend of natural beauty and tranquil beginnings before we venture further west.

Across the prairies to the Rockies' embrace
After immersing ourselves in Ontario's beauty, our route takes us through Winnipeg, the vibrant capital of Manitoba, and then onward to Calgary, Alberta. Here, we'll reconnect with family before heading into the magnificent Glacier National Park, where towering peaks and pristine wilderness await. This segment promises dramatic landscapes and cherished family moments, bridging the expansive prairies with the majestic Rocky Mountains.

Pacific adventures: Whistler, Vancouver Island, and coastal journeys
From the Rockies, we'll journey to Whistler, British Columbia, renowned for its stunning mountain scenery. Our journey then continues with a ferry ride to Vancouver Island, where we plan to spend eleven days exploring, including a visit to the charming town of Tofino. After experiencing the island's unique coastal beauty, we'll catch another ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, embarking on a memorable 15-hour boat trip that showcases Canada's spectacular coastline.

To the edge of the continent: The Dempster Highway and beyond
Our northern expedition truly begins as we drive up the Cassiar Highway to Whitehorse, Yukon, and then make our way to Dawson City. From there, the legendary Dempster Highway awaits, leading us all the way to Tuktoyaktuk on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. This epic journey to the top of Canada is the core reason for our chosen route, representing a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for my husband and me. We'll then begin our return trip through Watson Lake and eventually back to Ontario, completing our incredible circle.
